Tame Impala - Innerspeaker (2010)

Following up on what seems to be today's theme, this is yet another psychedelic rock band.  Tame Impala are a quartet from Perth, Australia who are very clearly influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Cream, Deep Purple, a variety of jam bands, and the list goes on.  Starting out as a swing/jazz band called the Dee Dee Dums, they changed their name to Tame Impala in 2007 after winning a campus competition.  This is not your average debut album from a fresh band who are happy to write 2-3 minute pop songs.  Tame Impala go the distance and tend to rock out for about 6-7 minutes with some songs coming out sounding as if they were at a jam session.  Sit back and relax for this one as it is an album that needs to be heard from beginning to end.  Keep an eye out for these guys.
